Prologue She began to wonder if the road every ended. If after miles and miles, it eventually came to a stop like most things. It felt like it never did. The road felt like an eternal path, a sickening anticipation. It felt like no matter how long you looked for an ending, it never came. It reminded her of what she truly was. It reminded her of her Number, of the Mogadorians, and of war. Never-ending. The sun was resting at its peak, light warming the Earth. Chapter 1: Prologue AN:Spoliers for 'The Mortal Instruments Series'. Rating: PG-13. The air around her smelled like wet, damp, cold stone and the back of an alley, which was where she was. She could faintly hear the chatter of people and taxi cabs' racing by. She thought of how blind humans were, living in a world where nothing that couldn't be scientifically explained lived and yet there was an entire world they had not known off right beside them-living among them. And for that she envied them. The damp stone pressed against her back was a cold jolting through her nerves. Her back ached for being pressed up against the stone so hard.

Chapter 6:Hiding Two teenagers sat on the side of the road, a motorcycle laid on the grass beside them along with two duffel bags and a backpack, the color of a starless and moonless night.  The face of the older one-more prominent cheekbones-was debilitating, eyes hazing over slightly with sleeplessness, but looked as if she was fighting it. She sat in the cool Illinois' grass that streaked either sides of the black road.  She had her hands supporting her slightly leaned back position, digging into the grass and the dirt below.
